Eagle Album Hand Lettering!

Better late than never! Right?!

I started this post before the holiday crazies – wayyyy back in November when this amazing album was first released (November 17, 2012).  I feel really great about the little bit of hand lettering I was able to contribute to both the album (front & back) which was screen printed, as well as the release show poster.  Designs were done by the bass man Dave Robertson, and I cannot wait to collaborate with him again. Screen printing by Larry Anzuoni. Music by Dave, Larry, Kit Carlyle & Jake Hill. This music moves me, and I hope someday soon you can give it a listen :)

Check out Jake Hill & Deep Creek on the internet & on facebook.

EAGLE is available for purchase in hard copy from the Brewster Productions online store!

Here I am hand numbering the first 100 CD envelopes!!!!

Courtney & Tyler’s Plymouth Plantation Wedding Celebration!

My first post of the New Year! YESSS. Here we go 2013!!!!  While I’m getting lots of inquiries for future weddings, I’m thrilled to have a few 2012 Fall Wedding blog posts coming down the pipeline!

So remember big friends/little friends?! Well Courtney is like my big friend, not by any assignment, but just because she was older and awesome and I totally loved being her friend as a little freshman in high school. It had been a few years since I talked to Courtney, but by the power of facebook she had some idea of what I was up to! Out of the blue one day, May 19th actually, I got an email from Courtney! WEDDING, TYLER, OCTOBER, ENVELOPES, YELLOW & GRAY, CALLIGRAPHY, SIGN ME UP!! I LOVE Courtney and I had so much fun with her and her mom and of course this color scheme!  Check out the photos below: table numbers, homemade olive oil tags, place cards, calligraphy signs, thank you cards, and BUNTING!!! YUP, I can sew!!!! :)

Courtney & Tyler – Thank you so much for letting me be part of your beautiful wedding. I mean, look at you two!  It was really special to design for your occasion, and as the pictures show, it was spectacular! I’m so happy so many friends got to enjoy your wedding day with you. I know it’s been a few months already, but CONGRATULATIONS! So much love to you both!! THANK YOU a million times for being so awesome!

I must also give a shout out to the lovely Melissa DeSchamp, wedding photographer out of Quincy, MA who was so kind and shared some photos with me.  She did a wonderful job photographing the whole wedding, I wished I could have just posted the whole thing to my blog – but instead, I’ll send you over to her blog & her facebook! She’s done lots of local weddings, so check her out! With the exception of the 3 photos with my logo on them, Melissa took all of these! YAYY Melissa! THANKS!!!

Happy Day After Thanksgiving Everyone!!!!

On Thanksgiving Eve, and right before I headed out to enjoy the merriment, I got my first ever line of holiday cards posted to my facebook page! I AM SO EXCITED TO SHOW THEM OFF! I know, I know, I should put them on Etsy and all that fun stuff – but for now, this seemed the easiest way to share them and have you be able to share them too! SO please, head on over to Allison Kathleen Calligraphy & Design. While you’re there, like the page, check out the cards, check out my BRAND NEW {AK} Pinterest which is linked in my facebook, and have fun getting in the spirit of the holidays. If you’ve already been out shopping this morning, you’re crazy, but I think you already know that. Anyway, I can’t thank you enough for supporting my small business. I can’t wait to work on your greetings!!!

Amy & David’s Perfect Fall Wedding!

I’ve been anticipating the photos from this wedding since September 29th (their wedding date)! Now I’m so excited to share them with you all. Amy and I have a mutual friend, who has made several appearances on my blog already. You can find Diana here and here or in a picture below of her with the BEAUTIFUL bride Amy! Amy and I worked together on menus, place cards,  jar tags, totally cute table numbers, programs, and cake signs – I just had so much fun with her color scheme! As a special embellishment, we added pearls to the jar tags and menus. OH! One other thing I’ve been waiting to share – Amy’s Bridal Shower Invitations – Around the Clock theme!

Amy – I don’t know that you fully understand how excited I got every time you asked me to do something else for your wedding. I’m so happy that I met you at Di’s wedding – and now I’d say we’re pretty good friends! Thank you for having me add so many of my designs to your special day. Congratulations to you and David – you had the perfect fall wedding!!!  (I mean, the last photo below of you two, come on! AMAZING!)

Special thank you to Steve Holmes – Amy’s photographer – for sending me these photos! Do check out his website and  like him on facebook. Steve Holmes Photography rules! Have a great day :)

Eric & Rachel’s Beach Wedding!

You may remember Rachel from her Fabulous 40th Birthday party! She was and always has been a pleasure to be around, and working with her on several pieces for her wedding was no different. I must also mention that Eric has a humongous heart. He gave me a job and taught me some extremely valuable business skills while I was starting up this little site. Between these two beautiful people, I have had an enormous amount of support, encouragement, and enthusiasm for my work. THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU RACHEL & ERIC!

Now I grew up less than a mile from Plymouth Long Beach, but this was the first I had seen anyone exchange vows with their friends and loved ones in such a beautiful way on the perfect September day. This couple chose a special spot on the beach where Eric proposed. This invitation, menu and place card set is so special to me as it is my first hand painted watercolor design. Rachel loved it so much, she had it matted and framed for everyone to sign. Again, I could not ask for a more supportive, fun, and friendly couple of people to have me design AND attend their celebration. Congratulations Rachel & Eric – I have so much appreciation for all that you have done for me!

Rachel’s 40th Birthday, The Old Crab!

The second that Rachel mentioned her big 40th Birthday Bash, and super fun Old Crab Theme, I had so many ideas! I’m psyched that I had the opportunity to work with her and her fiancé Eric to design the invitation and lots of fun party decorations.  The Old Crab made its way onto retro lollipops, cups, food signs, garbage/recycle bins, and even a popcorn machine.  An amazing cake was made and decorated by a local friend Beth.  As a final touch, the invitation was blown up and matted for friends to sign as a keepsake to remember the special event!

Now I just wanted to mention that Rachel is not an old crab at all. She happens to have a July birthday, and is therefore a Cancer. But she’s also beautiful, sweet, fun, and an absolute pleasure to work with. Rachel, thanks for having me be part of your very special birthday. I had a blast at your party and I’m looking forward to our next project together!!!!

Tracey’s Elephant Themed Baby Shower!

Hello Friends & Happy Friday!

Today I’m sharing a design project I did for my favorite set of sisters in the world!  I hope you can imagine the excitement I had when the oldest, Jade, asked me to design the Baby Shower Invitation for Tracey. OH MY PSYCHED! Then she told me the theme was yellow and grey elephant! YESSSS, and I immediately had ideas running around my mind.

I couldn’t be happier with the final result and can’t thank Jade and Maryann enough for asking me to design for them. You did a fabulous job with every single detail of the shower. Thanks for letting me squeeze the design into one more of those details (check out the precious dessert flags!)

Tracey you were a beautiful bride last year and soon will be make an amazing mom! Congratulations, I cannot wait to meet Baby Boucher!

Jacki & Matt’s Wedding!

Happy June 14th! Today I’m so excited to share photos from Jacki & Matt’s Wedding. You might recall I designed and lettered some things for Jacki’s Bridal Shower, which led to a variety of AK Calligraphy at the wedding!  It was a few weeks before the special day and they came to me with a whole list of ideas – we met at Panera and it was wonderful. I LOVE IDEAS & SANDWICHES. Since the wedding in April, I’ve been more anxious to see the photos than anyone who attended the wedding (made up fact). Having known Jacki’s family for many years, I expected nothing less than a beautiful, fun & loving occasion. IT EVEN DOWNPOURED! But the only hint at rain in the photos below is the umbrella – what beauties!!

Pictured first is Jacki & her sister Krista, the Maid of Honor and one of my best friends! Beyond that you’ll see my lettering and design on place cards, family tree of marriages (the calligraphy is way too small to see but it is under each couples wedding photo), table #s that corresponded with pictures of the Bride & Groom in that year (so cute!), Mr. & Mrs. signs, and a full shot of the room at Indian Pond Country Club.   Also, please read on below the images for more information about the amazingly talented Ciras Photography!

Jacki & Matt – you are a beautiful couple – thank you, thank you, thank you for having me be part of your wedding day in so many ways! ~AK

Ciras Photography is Heather & Jesse Ciras, a husband and wife team of South Shore wedding and portrait photographers. You can see fun, happy photos from local and destination weddings at www.cirasphotography.com.

Thank you for providing these photos Heather.  Great job capturing the whole day!

Diana’s Bridal Shower Invitations

I couldn’t have been more excited and honored to be asked to design Diana’s Bridal Shower Invitations. I don’t remember what kind of a day it was when I received an email from Barb, Diana’s Mom, but I assure you it immediately became 100x better!!! These invites were so exciting to me because Diana is my first friend to get married! AHHHH!!!!!!! The wedding is set for mid July in Newport, RI and the Bridal Shower was a few weekends ago at the Tewksbury Country Club. Boy, was it lovely!!

Barb mentioned key words like: classic, elegant, floral & PURPLE! So I provided a few options and I’m so proud of the end result. We used white linen paper & envelopes with custom liners to match the invite. I also did purple calligraphy on the envelopes but unfortunately didn’t snap a photo before I mailed them.  Take my word, they looked great. Or take Ksenia’s word: “Loved your work, by the way. No one’s ever written my address that beautifully before. I saved it.” Thanks Ksenia, that means so much!

Other images below include: My gift to Diana – Thank You cards to match the invitations,  pictures of the GORGEOUS centerpieces and cake & one for nostalgia (me and my 5 college roommates). Diana is in the pretty yellow dress.  Thank you so much Diana & Barb – I couldn’t have enjoyed this process more and am so very happy for you, Diana & Jimmy!

((special thanks to Diana’s Aunt for providing the photos of the centerpiece and cake))
